For Our Future BEYOND the Victoria Gold Mine Site CLEANUP

What if You've Struck The Mining Jackpot!

The Environmental Disaster in Our Back Yard Will Eventually Be Cleaned Up to Our Satisfaction!

Now, the question is . . .

When and how will you claim your fair share, and how will you ensure it provides prosperity for both you and the generations that follow?

Some Elders speak of a prophecy in which"Gold mining will bring trouble to NND."

But what if the true wisdom in that prophecy lies not in the warning, but in a call to action—urging us to take ownership of our future and shape it on our own terms.

By understanding this prophecy as a challenge, NND citizens can transform challenges into opportunities. Through equity ownership in the mines on our land, we have the power to secure long-term economic prosperity—ensuring a path to well-being and prosperity of our people for generations to come.

Would You Prefer a Better Path?

For the Land.

For all NND Citizens.

For a fair Investment.

For the Environment.

For the Yukon.

NND Unity for the Benefit of ALL Present and Future NND Citizens

.

Let me ask you . . .

Imagine a gold mine establishing operations right next to our Category “B” lands—areas our Elders and Leaders have designated for our future sustained socio-economic prosperity, knowing the potential abundant gold reserves they hold.

Now, consider if control over a Category “B” land had been transferred to a mining company through an agreement that may not bring significant benefits to you or your family in your lifetime.

One mine is projecting the extraction of just under four billion dollars in gold from our traditional territory over its 12-year lifespan. As we own the mineral rights to our Category “B” lands, any gold found there is rightfully ours—unless a previously signed agreement says otherwise. So, when and how will you see your fair share of this wealth?

There may be serious issues with such agreements, and it's crucial that we address them while we still can. We need clear answers to questions such as: What are the drilling results and the estimated value of the gold in our "B" lands? Why aren't citizens allowed to review these agreements? How can we improve any agreement today that may not be in our best interest?

Our community deserves transparency and fair representation in these matters. It's time for us to unite and ensure that the wealth extracted from our lands contributes directly to the prosperity of our people now and for generations to come.

Negotiating A Fair Equity Ownership Truly

Benefits ALL NND Citizens!

We can negotiate new agreements that leverage our Category "B" lands with significant new mining equity to help provide new homes for Elders and every working citizen, whether they reside on reserve, off reserve, in the Yukon, or anywhere in the world.

This initiative not only provides secure housing but is also the foundation to immediate and lasting wellness for all NND citizens.

We have the opportunity to negotiate new agreements that ensures every Na-cho Nyak Dun citizen, whether man, woman, or child, benefits directly from the mine’s success through a fair equity and royalty-sharing program.

If and when the mine reopens, these benefits will not only provide financial resources for today’s citizens but will also help secure economic stability for future generations, ensuring that the wealth of our land benefits all NND families equally.

1. Elder Leadership: A Legacy of Wellness

Elders have long been the foundation of our community, guiding us with wisdom and experience. Now, through the Na-cho Nyak Dun Unity Trust, we have the opportunity to honour their contributions by providing monthly pensions of $2,000 to $4,000 beginning with the start of mining operations..

This pension is not just financial support but a message of respect and recognition for their role in shaping our community.

By investing in our Elders' wellness, we set an example for future generations. This pension is a lasting legacy, ensuring that Elders continue to play a key role in our cultural and social fabric. The financial independence it offers will empower them to live with dignity and continue to inspire others with their leadership.

2. Community Wellness: Building on Elder Wisdom

Elder leadership has always been central to our concept of wellness, and now, we can take it a step further. Through the "Community Wellness" initiative, Elder Complexes can be established to create a bridge between traditional and modern ways of living.

These land-based complexes, with 5 to 30 units, will promote intergenerational living, food security, and energy efficiency, all while preserving Elders’ vital role as leaders. The first constructions in Whitehorse and Mayo are slated for 2025, with strong support from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation CMHC to guarantee affordability and sustainability.

This initiative will empower Elders to lead by example, ensuring that cultural knowledge and community wellness continue to thrive through modern, integrated living environments.

3. Homes: Foundations for a Stronger Future

A home is more than just a shelter; it is the foundation for individual and family wellness. Through the Na-cho Nyak Dun Unity Trust, every citizen will have a clear pathway to adequate affordable homeownership either on or off reserve lands.

For many, qualifying for a mortgage and securing a down payment can be major obstacles. The trust aims to ease this burden by providing substantial financial assistance, offering support ranging from $25,000 to $75,000 towards a down payment on a mortgage so that no one will be left behind.

This commitment to new housing is about creating stability. When our people have secure homes, they are better positioned to thrive in all areas of life. Homeownership strengthens our community, offering financial security and a place where culture and family can flourish.

4. Jobs: Building a Future through Mining and Apprenticeships

The Na-cho Nyak Dun First Nation has the potential to become global leaders in mining expertise. Through the Unity Trust, we will ensure that anyone who wants a job or a lifelong career will have one.

The goal is not just employment but to make NND citizens the best-trained, most sought-after mining professionals in the world. A key part of this vision is the Apprenticeship Training for Youth, which offers hands-on training to prepare young citizens for high-skill careers.

With a strong economic foundation, we will ensure that no citizen is left without an opportunity. Whether through direct employment or entrepreneurial ventures, the Unity Trust provides the resources and pathways to build a prosperous future for all.

Negotiating Disaster into Opportunity: Fair Equity Ownership for Every NND Citizen!

My Team and I have the connections, expertise and resources to help negotiate and FUND, the reopening of the mine to the satisfaction of all stakeholders if/when it makes sense.

Who is former Chief Ed Champion to

First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun?

My name is Ed Champion, an Elder born in Mayo and a member of the Crow Clan. My great grandmother, Big Maizie, is a respected ancestor whose legacy connects me to many of you in the First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun, and to our enduring cultural heritage.

My grandparents, Jack and Mary McDiarmid built and ran the Stewart Crossing Lodge, which consisted of a hotel, bar, gas station and restaurant. I fondly remember my grandmother's heartwarming laugh as she served her guests, and my grandfather’s dedication running the ferry at Stewart Crossing until the bridge was built.

My mother, Beryl Champion (McDiarmid), was one of the best mothers' in the world. John Champion, managed the hydro dam in Mayo before moving to run the forestry service in Watson Lake.

We left the Yukon when I was 10 because my sister, born deaf and blind, needed medical services available only in Vancouver.

My career in real estate spans decades, focusing on financing, marketing, sales, building, and development in Western Canada and the US. In 2010, I returned to the Yukon to lead our development corporation. As CEO, I assembled a team of experts with a focus on mining. Our first meeting with Chief and Council was met with a standing ovation for our plans, allowing us to secure control over the mining files and remove them from the executive director's office.

However, within a few short months, control over the mining files was removed from NND Development Corporation, as was I shortly thereafter. The files were once again in the executive director's office.

In 2012, I ran for Chief on a platform for Wellness for our people and I was elected. We engaged two independent law firms and a mining consultant to review all First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun (NND) mining contracts. While none were found to be great for NND, a few stood out as lacking true fairness and needed improvement. One of my intentions as Chief was to renegotiate those deals, but once again, I strangely found myself removed from my position.

To be clear, I do not blame the mining industry, nor do I suggest mining interests influenced my removals. The mining industry needs permits and approvals, often influencing governments to secure support. As my mother used to say; "If you walk too close to the bear's den, don't be surprised if you wake the bear." The recent environmental disaster in our traditional territory is a tragedy but also an opportunity for NND citizens. This is not a personal vendetta; it is about fairness and justice for NND while raising the bar for environmental safety.

Done correctly, this opportunity can provide new housing for every NND Elder and citizen, both on and off settlement lands. Every NND member should be on a path to financial prosperity with cash in their pockets if/when the mine reopens.

One of my most impactful contributions as the Chief of the First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun was working closely with our lawyer, Tom Berger, at a critical juncture in our legal battle against the Yukon Government. Although I was not Chief when the case was ultimately settled, our efforts were instrumental in the eventual protection of the Peel Watershed in the Supreme Court of Canada.

With your support, my team and I are ready to help lead the way, ensuring fair deals that provide a prosperous future for ALL First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun citizens.
